GP Referral

There are 3 GP referral schemes covering Manchester, all with the aim of improving the health and well-being of local residents through increased physical activity and community exercise, providing access to a structured programme of supported, monitored and evaluated physical activity.

There are currently 10 Manchester Sport and Leisure Trust facilities that accept GP referrals.

The 3 schemes are accessible to all residents, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnic origin, religious belief, sexual orientation, social status or physical ability. Through the use of link workers, culturally sensitive provision will be made for those who do not speak English, when appropriate.

The Manchester Sport and Leisure Trust accept referrals from a wide range of sources, including GPs, Practice Nurses, Physiotherapists, Specialist Nurses and Mental Health Practitioners.
