LOCAL GYMNASTIC CLUB HANDSTANDS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE THE REST

At the North West Gymnastics Association Awards Night, Sunday 16th November, the City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics scored 6's across the board by successfully picking up awards in all 4 categories in which they were nominated.

This annual awards ceremony provides the opportunity to show recognition and praise for everyone involved with promoting gymnastics in the North West.

Based at Manchester Regional Gymnastics Centre in Gorton, the club is responsible for offering a wide range of fantastic gymnastics classes that provide access and use to the centre's world-class gymnastic facilities to everyone from Manchester toddlers through to regional, national and sometimes international gymnasts.

Congratulations to:

1. Byron Clithero who received 'Committee Member of the Year' - achieving outstanding results for regional squad training and National team selection. Byron serves as a beacon of enthusiasm and this is a popular, well-deserved recognition for his continual commitment and hard-work

2. Jane Leigh who received 'Mentor / Volunteer Coordinator of the Year' - for all her work at the club and mentoring and coaching other less qualified coaches

3. Alex Gagon for 'Under 11 Gymnast of the Year' - I'm sure the first of many for this young, talented gymnast

4. City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics for the much coveted 'Gymnastics Club of the Year' - a well-deserved recognition for all gymnasts, coaches, helpers, parents, family and friends

No doubt 2009 will build on this phenomenal success.
